Meni.ge widgets for Shopify

Add chat, a contact button or a promotional widget to product and collection pages. Install the code in your store theme; this is not an order-sync app or a checkout installation. Consent and analytics have a separate installation order below.

  • Start with one task on a product page
  • Settings in Meni.ge; code in your theme.liquid
  • Duplicate the theme before editing; check the cart and mobile view after publishing

What works on Shopify

Choose a widget and configure it in your dashboard. Standard widgets share a tag; consent and analytics require a separate installation order.

Your selected widget and platform are saved at registration. Next, configure the widget in the dashboard. Keep this Shopify guide open and return to the installation steps below after setup.

Does Shopify require a paid plan

No paid platform plan required

You need a store with Online Store and access to theme code; no separate app is required to paste the tag.

This guide covers stores with Online Store → Themes → Edit code available. Check your plan capabilities and staff permissions before installation.

Your Shopify subscription is separate from Meni.ge widget pricing. Not buying an extra app does not mean a free store or access to checkout code.

How to add the code on Shopify

Standard widgets: chat, contact button, appointments

<script src="https://cdn.meni.ge/site/v1.js" data-domain="your-site.com" async></script>

Example tag for standard widgets. Use your own dashboard code, not this demonstration domain. To block analytics, follow the separate instructions below. Cookie consent and analytics: a separate installation order →

  1. 1

    Copy the install code

In your Meni.ge dashboard: Admin panel → Marketing → «My Website». Enter your store address in the first field and copy the tag.

  2. 2

    Duplicate the theme first

In the Shopify admin: Online Store → Themes → «…» on the theme → Duplicate. That is your way back if anything goes wrong.

  3. 3

    Open the code editor

Same place: «…» on the theme → Edit code. The Shopify help center describes the path as «From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store. Click … > Edit code».

  4. 4

    Find theme.liquid

In the file list on the left: the Layout folder → theme.liquid. That is the shared frame of every storefront page.

  5. 5

    Paste the tag and save

Paste the line right before the closing head tag (or before the closing body tag) and press Save.

  6. 6

    Check the installation

    Open your storefront and go back to «My Website» → «Check installation».

The edit lives inside that one theme. Publish a different theme and the widgets go away with the old one — paste the tag into the new theme as well.

Check the installation

  1. 1

    Publish the site again

In site builders your edit lives in a draft: until the pages are republished, the tag is not on the live site.

  2. 2

Open «My Website» in the dashboard

Admin panel → Marketing → «My Website». Put your site address in the first field and press «Check installation».

  3. 3

    See what was found

The check reads the page’s source HTML and lists the widgets it found. A tag injected through Google Tag Manager stays invisible to it — that is a limit of the check, not of the install.

Shopify specifics

  • The code belongs to the selected theme

After switching or updating themes, check for the tag in the published version. Do not add another copy if the original is still there.

  • Storefront and checkout are separate

The theme.liquid route covers storefront pages using that theme. It does not add widgets to checkout or establish control over Shopify pixels.

  • A chat app is already installed

Check for overlapping buttons on a phone. Disable a duplicate or change its position, then test opening the cart.

  • Your orders stay in Shopify

Adding the tag does not import products, carts or orders. If you sell through Shopify, start with chat or a contact button; the Meni.ge ordering widget is enabled separately.

Questions and answers

Do I need a Shopify App Store app?

Not for this installation method: add the standard tag to theme.liquid. You need theme access; consent has a separate tag and loading-order checks.

Will it run on checkout?

This installation method covers the storefront. It does not extend checkout or sync Shopify order data.

Is compatibility with my cart guaranteed?

Shadow DOM isolates widget styling, but does not guarantee compatibility with every theme or app behavior. Duplicate the theme first, then test product pages, the cart and mobile layout.

What should I check after switching themes?

One tag in the new published theme, widget opening, no overlapping buttons and the correct dashboard domain.

Can I use the standard async tag for cookie consent?

To block trackers before consent, place a separate consent/v1.js first in head without async/defer. Test loading before a choice, after rejection and after acceptance. Native platform analytics may need separate configuration; a visible banner does not establish legal compliance.
