Meni.ge widgets for WordPress

Give visitors a way to ask a question, open a messenger or leave their number. Choose a widget, configure it in Meni.ge and add the code with a header code plugin. Cookie consent that blocks analytics has its own installation guide below.

  • For self-hosted WordPress, start with WPCode or a similar code plugin
  • Configure the widget in your dashboard; install the code in WordPress
  • Check caching, the mobile page and other floating buttons

What works on WordPress

Choose a widget and configure it in your dashboard. Standard widgets share a tag; consent and analytics require a separate installation order.

Your selected widget and platform are saved at registration. Next, configure the widget in the dashboard. Keep this WordPress guide open and return to the installation steps below after setup.

Does WordPress require a paid plan

No paid platform plan required

Self-hosted WordPress is open source: neither the theme file editor nor code plugins are tied to a plan.

The Theme File Editor (Appearance → Theme File Editor) ships with a standard WordPress install and needs no subscription. Header/footer code plugins in the WordPress.org directory have free versions, and a free version is plenty for a single line.

The WordPress documentation does warn about editing theme files: the editor keeps no backups, and a theme update wipes the changes. That is why the plugin route comes before the editor in the steps above.

WordPress.com hosting is a different story: there, installing plugins and adding custom code are not open on every plan. Check the WordPress.com help center for those terms — we have not verified them on this page.

Menu names and plan requirements on this page come from the official help center:

How to add the code on WordPress

Standard widgets: chat, contact button, appointments

<script src="https://cdn.meni.ge/site/v1.js" data-domain="your-site.com" async></script>

Example tag for standard widgets. Use your own dashboard code, not this demonstration domain. To block analytics, follow the separate instructions below. Cookie consent and analytics: a separate installation order →

  1. 1

    Copy the install code

In your Meni.ge dashboard: Admin panel → Marketing → «My Website». Enter your site address in the first field and copy the tag.

  2. 2

Log in to the WordPress dashboard

The address looks like your-site/wp-admin. You need administrator rights: editors and authors will not see the menus below.

  3. 3

    Install a header/footer code plugin

Plugins → Add Plugin → look for a plugin that inserts code into the header and footer (the WordPress.org directory has the free WPCode — Insert Headers and Footers) → Install → Activate.

  4. 4

Paste the tag into the Header field

The plugin has separate fields for header and footer code. Paste the line into the header field — that is the head of every page — and save.

  5. 5

    Or edit the theme directly

Appearance → Theme File Editor → header.php (before the closing head tag) or footer.php (before the closing body tag) → «Update File». The WordPress documentation warns that theme updates wipe such edits, so a child theme or a plugin is the safer route.

  6. 6

    Check the installation

Open your site, reload the page and go back to «My Website» → «Check installation».

If a caching plugin or a CDN is in play, purge the cache: visitors — and our check — may still be served a stored copy of the page without the tag.

Check the installation

  1. 1

    Publish the site again

In site builders your edit lives in a draft: until the pages are republished, the tag is not on the live site.

  2. 2

Open «My Website» in the dashboard

Admin panel → Marketing → «My Website». Put your site address in the first field and press «Check installation».

  3. 3

    See what was found

The check reads the page’s source HTML and lists the widgets it found. A tag injected through Google Tag Manager stays invisible to it — that is a limit of the check, not of the install.

WordPress specifics

  • You already have a chat or messenger button

Keep one button or place them in different corners. On a phone, check that they do not cover navigation, the cart or consent controls.

  • The widget is missing after saving

Clear WordPress and CDN caches. Check that the code is installed once on the published domain and that the widget is enabled in your dashboard.

  • Installing through GTM

For standard widgets, use Custom HTML and publish the container. The server-side check reads source HTML and cannot see a tag injected by GTM. Consent must run before trackers; follow the separate guide.

  • WooCommerce and forms remain separate

Adding the tag does not import your catalog, orders or Contact Form 7 submissions into Meni.ge. Shadow DOM isolates widget styling; test behavior with your own theme and plugins.

Questions and answers

Do I need a dedicated Meni.ge plugin?

Standard widgets only need the dashboard tag. WPCode or a similar plugin helps add it without editing PHP by hand.

What happens after a theme update?

A code plugin avoids editing the parent theme. Updates can overwrite changes to the parent theme’s header.php or footer.php; check your published site after switching themes.

Does this cover WordPress.com?

This guide primarily covers self-hosted WordPress. On WordPress.com, first check whether your plan supports plugins and third-party JavaScript.

Will the widget slow down my site?

The standard loader runs asynchronously and loads enabled widgets. Test performance with your plugin setup. Consent that blocks before a choice requires a separate tag without async/defer.

Can I keep WooCommerce and Elementor?

Yes. Start with one site-wide widget and test pages, cart and forms. This is not an automatic WooCommerce order integration; installing it does not require rebuilding Elementor pages.

Can I use the standard async tag for cookie consent?

To block trackers before consent, place a separate consent/v1.js first in head without async/defer. Test loading before a choice, after rejection and after acceptance. Native platform analytics may need separate configuration; a visible banner does not establish legal compliance.
