Bar Mode
Bar mode is a POS workflow for venues where guests pay directly at the counter: coffee shops, bars, fast food, and restaurant shops. Unlike the dining area mode, there is no link to a table or waiter here β just add menu items, accept payment, and you're done. The POS immediately resets for a new bill.
For venues with both a counter and a dining area, the mode can be switched right during the shift β each terminal is configured independently.
Open: Admin Panel β POS β mode switch in the ticket header.
How to enable bar mode
The mode works on two levels.
Default for location
Sets the mode in which the POS opens on any device at this location:
- Go to Admin Panel β Locations β [your location] β Settings.
- Find the Service mode block and select Bar (instead of "Dining area").
- Save. All employees who open the POS at this location will see bar mode by default.
Switching on a specific device
If one terminal operates in dining area mode and another in bar mode:
- Open the POS.
- In the ticket header, click the Dining area / Bar toggle.
- The selection is saved on this device and does not affect the others.
Working with open bills (tabs)
An open bill is a named order to which items can be added until payment. It is perfect for situations when a guest orders several drinks throughout the evening or occupies a seat at the bar counter for several hours.
Create a new bill
- In bar mode, enter the bill name or label (for example, guest name, seat number at the bar counter, "Table 2").
- Add dishes and drinks from the menu tiles.
- Click "Open bill" β the ticket is saved, and the POS is reset for the next guest.
Add items to an open bill
- Click the open bills list icon (π) in the POS header.
- Select the required bill from the list. Open bills are marked with a colored marker πΈ.
- Add items and save again.
Close bill with payment
- Open the required bill from the list.
- Click "Pay" and select the payment method.
- The bill is closed and sent to Orders and the POS shift.
After payment, the "Next guest" button instantly opens a clean ticket.
Mixed mode: bar and dining area simultaneously
If the venue has both a counter and tables with waiters, configure different devices differently:
- Counter terminal β "Bar" mode (via local toggle).
- Waiter terminal β "Dining area" mode linked to a table and QR code.
In bar mode, optional table binding is also available β the "β Table" button allows you to add a table to the bill if needed. By default, the table and waiter fields are hidden to avoid cluttering the counter screen.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do bar orders go to the kitchen?
Yes. Orders from bar mode are sent to the kitchen display (KDS) just like orders from the dining area. If you have a bar without a kitchen, simply do not open the KDS.
Can I work without open bills?
Yes. If a guest pays immediately, just click "Pay" without saving the bill beforehand. Open bills are only needed when a guest continues ordering throughout the evening.
Are bar orders visible in the general order list?
Yes β all orders go into a single feed on the Orders page. Bar orders are marked with a mode marker.
Can I switch modes in the middle of a shift?
Yes β the toggle in the ticket header is always available. Already created orders and open bills remain in the system regardless of the device's current mode.
Does bar mode affect the Z-report and finances?
No, financially the orders are equivalent. Bar mode is only a change to the POS UX. All revenue is reflected in the POS shift and in the "Finances" section in the usual way.
